Exercise 14: Structural Geology

Problem 2 - block diagrams

You will be completing Block A as follows:

• Use the block provided in class to fill in the sides of your block. (If you are not in class, see the intructions below and the diagrams on p. 267 in the lab book.) You do not need to fold and assemble your block.
• For a.(2) and (3) and for b. (1) and (4) complete the information requested on your block, use the folded block as a guide.

a. & b. Compare to the diagrams on page 267. You will note that strike and dip symbols are shown, the types of structures are named, and the relative ages of the layers are given.

2.a.(2) & 2.b.(1) Draw the strike and dip symbol as indicated on the appropriate example on P. 267. To measure the dip, see the images below.
