ECLIPSE 2017 |
WHEN: Monday, August 21
In Illinois, the partial eclipse will begin shortly before noon, maximum will be reached at around 1:20 pm, and the eclipse will conclude after 2:30 pm. |
DETAILS: The path of the total eclipse runs from Oregon to South Carolina and includes southern Illinois. In fact, southern Illinois will experience the greatest duration of totality (2 min, 40 sec). NASA is setting up shop in southern Illinois to view the eclipse and is co-sponsoring events at SIUC. The rest of Illinois will experience a partial eclipse;
every one in Illinois will experience at least 85% of the sun obscured at
maximum. You will
need "eclipse glasses" to view the eclipse directly (welding glasses will
work). The eclipse can also be
safely viewed with several types of pinhole devises. (https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/safety) |

Experiencing a total eclipse is unusual and a very
unique experience. If you are

good.
